Friendship Ninja Zone
Creating a kinder world by empowering kids with friendship skills
Published 01 March

The Maroondah Positive Education Network in partnership with Eastland and the Maroondah City Council are bringing URSTRONG's Friendology program to life in Eastland.

This program teaches our young people how to manage their own relationship issues via a common 'kid’ friendly language that empowers them to do that. The outcomes from this work is that our students are becoming better at managing their own friendship issues, can acknowledge and deal with “Friendship Fires” before they get out of control, and are more connected and happier at school, home and in the community.

In this interactive space our community of schools will be displaying what they are learning each month, which will be a different topic that fuels friendships – i.e. Friendship is Empathy in August. The space also provides an opportunity for our community to come and participate, learn the basics of Friendology and be equipped to share back into their own spaces they live, work and play.

We look forward to welcoming our Maroondah community into our Friendship Ninja Zone, located in the Link Mall, level 1 near Coffee Club

URSTRONG Friendship Journal

Eastland have partnered with URSTRONG to provide crucial resources to local Primary Schools in Maroondah for the benefit of the teachers, students and families.

The Friendship Journal has been partially subsidised by Eastland as a commitment to supporting the youth of Maroondah and leadership in creating a healthy and connected community.

This annual planner for schools is designed to promote mental health + wellbeing through friendship skills. With reflection questions, activities, and monthly themes, the Friendship Journal ties URSTRONG’s whole-school friendship strategy together – connecting home + school on a daily basis.

URSTRONG and Eastland share a strong, mutual interest in empowering youth and school communities while positively influencing all aspects of their lives via the development of healthy friendships.

A whole-community strategy, URSTRONG utilises the Friendology 101 curriculum, the Educator and Parent Resource Centres, and a variety of workshops and teacher training sessions. Using practical, step-by-step instruction, students learn how to differentiate and manage conflict (Friendship Fires™ vs Mean-on-Purpose) with kindness and respect.
